Three ingredient garlic bread [recipe]

Growing up every year on my birthday, my mom would let me plan the dinner menu for the family party. We still do that as adults but let’s be honest, it doesn’t feel quite as special when meal planning is a part of your every day life. As a kid, it was a rare treat to be in complete control of dinner.

There were a few favorites I usually chose depending on the year but one request always stayed the same… garlic bread.

I’m seriously addicted to garlic bread. In any form, too. Give it to me Texas-toast style, as a long baguette that comes from the frozen aisle or as pull apart knots. I’ll take it any way I can have it, as long as its as buttery and garlic-y as possible.

So, naturally, when I was trying to decide how to “spice up” the loaf of beer bread I baked Tuesday, garlic bread was the first thing that came to mind. Here’s how I made my quick & easy version. I made it with a little hunk of the bread, so adjust accordingly if you are making a whole loaf!

Three ingredient garlic bread:

Ingredients:

  • Loaf of bread (try it with my homemade beer bread recipe!)
  • Margarine
  • Assorted spices/salt (I used garlic salt and Italian seasonings)

1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.

2. Slice bread in half. Spread with margarine or butter. Feel free to be heavy handed. That’s what makes garlic bread so delicious! 🙂

3. Sprinkle the seasonings of your choice on the bread halves. This would be a great point to sprinkle some grated cheese on there as well! Put the halves together and wrap in aluminum foil.

4. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the bread is to your desired crustiness. Let cool and enjoy!
